J.W.Singer produce circa 2,000 tonnes of Brass Diecastings for the fire
protection industry every year, using cold chamber, high-pressure diecasting
machines with locking forces of between 420 and 560 tonnes. Each machine
is computer controlled to ensure programmable accuracy and monitoring of
the injection cycle, and automatic ladling to guarantee shot weight. Components
can range from a few grams to 4 Kg.
The benefits of high-pressure Diecast components are, dimensional accuracy, consistency, good surface finish, a reduction or elimination of machining, and because of their consistency- parts, which are suitable for automated handling. The range of Brasses available have Copper contents from 62%, to 82%
and include D.Z.R. Brasses with their high resistance to corrosion plus
brass with less than 15% Zinc content. Material specifications are monitored
on a daily basis using a spectrometer to guarantee conformity. |
