The need for computerisation within the design and drawing disciplines of the company was recognised a long time ago by J W Singer. The company has developed the use of computer aided design to an advanced stage.

The latest development in the design office has been the introduction of the latest 3-dimensional modelling software from Delcam. The design engineers no longer produce traditional 2-dimensional drawings. The Powershape software allows the engineer to create a 3-dimensional model and from that model a 2 dimensional drawing can be generated.

Powershape by Delcam is a 3 dimensional software system used as a wire frame generator or a solid modeller. With this system a design can be rotated on the computer screen and viewed from all angles, thus allowing the design engineer to see that the design is correct and true from all angles.
This system is also useful in ensuring that the design is correct before the die steel is cut which minimises the errors that might otherwise be found after the tool making process has began.
Once the engineer is happy with the design of the component the 3-D model can be used to create cutter paths for our rapid milling machines in our tool room.

J W Singer manufactures all of the diecasting tooling needed for our high-pressure diecasting process. Our toolroom is equipped with the latest in rapid milling and spark erosion/wire spark erosion machines as well as large conventional CNC milling machines on which we can manufacture our own bolsters thus making us completely self sufficient.
